Paschal Divine Liturgy at Sts. Peter and Paul Cathedral

On Bright Saturday, Clergy and faithful of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA gathered before God’s Holy Altar for a time-honored tradition, to celebrate the Paschal Divine Liturgy together with their Archpastor. His Eminence Justinian, Archbishop of Naro-Fominsk and Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA presided at the triumphant Divine Liturgy at Sts. Peter and Paul Cathedral in Passaic NJ.

His Eminence was co-served by the large majority of the priests and deacons who comprise the Patriarchal Parishes, who gathered the previous afternoon for the Special Convocation.

During the Little Entrance, with the Blessing of His Holiness Kirill, Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia, Archbishop Justinian elevated Priest Alexey Bocharnikov (Rector of St. Nicholas Church, Chester PA) to the rank of Archpriest.

After the Prayer behind the Ambo, Archbishop Justinian proclaimed the Prayer at the Breaking of the Artos, after which His Eminence, all the clergy, and faithful processed around the cathedral and its surrounding property, with their joyous proclamations of the Risen Christ.

At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, His Eminence greeted all those for gathering not only at the Convocation the previous day, but for being able to pray and serve together with the clerics of the Patriarchal Parishes. Archbishop Justinian congratulated all the clergy who received awards with the Blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill, and wished them many more years of service to the church. Archbishop Justinian also noted the importance of this celebration taking place at Sts. Peter and Paul. Last year, the Cathedral building, celebrated its millenial anniversary, but due to the extensive repair work, celebrations were not able to be held.

Archbishop Justinian also bestowed Archpastoral Gramotas on numerous individuals for their service to God’s Holy Church.
