Prayers are Called Upon for the Newly-Departed Metropolitan Vladimir

His Eminence Justinian, Archbishop of Naro-Fominsk called upon Parish Rectors of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA to commemorate the Newly-Departed Metropolitan Vladimir at the Divine Services on July 6. Archbishop Justinian blessed each parish to serve a Panikhida at the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy.

In connection with the repose of Metropolitan Vladimir of Kiev and all Ukraine, His Holiness Kirill, Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia called upon the Orthodox faithful of the world to pray for the newly-departed hierarch.

His Holiness Patriarch Kirill sent a letter to His Beatitude Tikhon, Metropolitan of all America and Canada, Primate of the Orthodox Church in America, personally requesting continued prayers for the newly-departed Metropolitan Vladimir. The text of the letter reads:

 HIS BEATITUDE TIKHON

ARCHBISHOP OF WASHINGTON

METROPOLITAN OF ALL AMERICA AND CANADA

Your Beatitude,

I am deeply grieved to inform you that His Beatitude Metropolitan Vladimir of Kiev and All Ukraine passed away in Kiev today. The deceased archpastor had done a lot to preserve canonical church unity in the times of hardships for the Ukrainian people. The Ukrainian flock, the whole Russian Orthodox Church, and the world Orthodoxy suffer a sad bereavement.

I ask for Your Beatitude’s holy prayers for the repose of the soul of the deceased hierarch, for his orphaned flock, and for the people of Ukraine, undergoing now afflictions and ordeals.

With brotherly love in the Lord,

+KIRILL

PATRIARCH OF MOSCOW AND ALL RUSSIA
