Anniversary of the Repose of St. Vladimir of Kiev Commemorated at Fort Ross

On Saturday, July 25, clergy and parishioners of St. Nicholas Cathedral in San Francisco, California traveled to Fort Ross, the first Russian settlement in California and now a national historical landmark to mark the annual day of Living History as well as the 100th Anniversary of the Repose of St. Vladimir of Kiev.

The celebrations began with the singing of the Akathist to the Holy Mother of God and the Lesser Blessing of Water served by rector of St. Nicholas Cathedral in San Francisco, Priest Leonid Kazakov. Afterwards, a procession was held around the Fort, ending at the cemetery. A Panihida was then served for the founders and those who resided there.

Fr. Leonid greeted all those gathered and congratulated them with the upcoming feast of the Baptizer of Rus' - St. Grand Prince Vladimir of Kiev.
