Bishop John Participates in Divine Services Commemorating St. Raphael of Brooklyn

On Saturday November 7, the Antiochian Orthodox Archdiocese in North America culminated its festivities honoring the Holy Hierarch Raphael of Brooklyn in St. Nicholas Cathedral in Brooklyn, NY. 120 years ago, St. Raphael began his service in North America as a vicar of the St. Tikhon, Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia.

The Great Vespers and Divine Liturgy were celebrated in St. Nicholas Cathedral in Brooklyn - one of the many parishes St. Raphael was primarily instrumental in founding. The Primate of the Antiochian Archdiocese in North America, His Eminence Metropolitan Joseph of all North America presided of the Divine Liturgy co-served by the Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA, His Grace Bishop John of Naro-Fomisk; His Eminence Archbishop Michael of New York and New Jersey (OCA) and hierarchs of the Antiochian Archdiocese: Bishop John of Worcester and New England and Bishop Nicholas of Brooklyn.

The Divine Liturgy was conducted in Arabic, Greek, English and Church Slavonic. During the Liturgy, Metropolitan Joseph raised prayers for the airline passengers tragically killed in the Sinai Peninsula.

At the conclusion of the services, Metropolitan Joseph congratulated the worshippers with the feast and expressed his gratitude to the hierarchs who co-served with him during the Divine Liturgy.

Interaction between hierarchs, clergy and parishioners continued in the parish hall.
