On Sunday January 17, His Grace Bishop John of Naro-Fominsk, Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA attended celebrations in the Sts. Peter and Paul Cathedral in Mexico City, Mexico honoring the 50th Anniversary of Episcopal Consecration of Metropolitan Antonio (Chedraoui) of Mexico, Central America and Venezuela (Antiochian Patriarchate).
Hierarchs from Australia, Argentina, Brazil, the United States and France flocked to congratulate one of the senior-most Archpastors of the Antiochian Orthodox Church. Metropolitan Antonio is not only locally recognized by the faithful of his diocese, but also by clergy and laity of other Local Orthodox Churches. In 2013, Metropolitan Antonio led the delegation from the Antiochian Orthodox Church during the celebrations of the 1025th Anniversary of the Baptism of Rus’.
At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, Bishop John read aloud congratulatory addresses from His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and all Russia and Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations. Bishop John also presented Metropolitan Antonio with a copy of the Iveron Icon of the Holy Theotokos.
