On Saturday, October 14, the great feast of the Protection of the Mother of God, the Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA, His Grace Bishop John of Naro-Fomisnk visited the metochion of the Monastery of St. Demetrius of Thessalonica - the Church of Our Lady of Kazan, in Spokane, Washington. Prior to the begining of the Divine Liturgy, Bishop John led the Consecration of the Antimins and the Lesser Blessing of the new temple. His Grace was co-served by parish rector, Hieromonk Dimitrian (Pashkov) and clerics of the Greek, Antiochian Churches as well as the Orthodox Church in America. The services were adorned by the choir under the direction of Larissa House.
At the conclusion of the Liturgy, Bishop John congrtauled Fr. Dimitrian and the parishioners with the consecration of their new church. His Grace then presented Archpastoral Gramotas to a number of parishioners who have been instrumental in the construction of the new church. Commemorating the momentous occasion, Bishop John presented the parish with a reliquary containing relics of many saints.
Interaction between the clergy and parishioners continued during the festive meal on the parish grounds.
On Sunday, the 19th Sunday after Pentecost, Bishop John once again led Divine Liturgy in the Church of our Lady of Kazan in Spokane, co-served by its rector, Hieromonk Dimitrian (Pashkov). At the conclusion of the Liturgy, Bishop John led the annual parish meeting and answered the questions of the parishioners.
