Bishop John celebrates Liturgy on the 1030 Anniversary of the Baptism of Rus

On Saturday, July 28, the feast of Holy Grand Prince Vladimir of Kiev, the Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA, Bishop John of Naro-Fominsk celebrated Divine Liturgy in St. Nicholas Cathedral in New York City co-served by cathedral clergy. 

During the Hours, Daniel Sobolev, parishioner of St. Gregory the Theologian Church in Tampa, Florida, was tonsured a reader, ordained a subdeacon and during the Divine Liturgy, Bishop John ordained him to the diaconate.

Before Holy Communion, the Epistle of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill and the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church on the 1030th Anniversary of the Baptism of Rus' was read. Afterwards, a short moleben was served to Holy Grand Prince Vladimir Equal-to-the-Apostles. Bishop John congratulated the parishioners on the celebration of the 1030th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus’ and the memory of St. Vladimir. He also greeted the newly ordained clergyman of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA, Deacon Daniel, wishing him God's help and diligence in his service to the Holy Church.
