During Great Lent, as the Coronavirus pandemic continues to entangle the entire world, a number of clergy and faithful raised up their prayers for the cessation of the death bearing pestilence in their local cities. 

On Wednesday, April 6, the eve of the feast of the Annunciation of the Most Holy Theotokos and the repose of St. Tikhon (Bellavin), Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia, clerics of St. Nicholas Patriarchal Cathedral in New York City performed an automobile cross-procession through the boroughs of New York. With the blessing of the interim Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA, Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, an icon of St. Tikhon containing a piece of his holy relics was brought in the procession.

On April 7, the feast of the Annunciation, Archpriest Alexey Bocharnikov (rector of St. Nicholas Church in Chester, PA) along with Deacon Michael Sidorochev performed an automobile cross-procession with an icon of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker containing a piece of his holy relics. The clergy served a moleben driving through Philadelphia, PA and surrounding localities, while they were joined by parishioners simultaneously at home in New Jersey, Delaware, Florida and Kentucky. 

On Tuesday, April 7, Priest Joshua Genig (Rector of St. Innocent Church in Redford, MI) and Hierodeacon Seraphim (Balagtas, Parish Cleric) journeyed in procession around the city of Redford, carrying with them the icons and particles of the holy relics of St. John the Wonderworker, Archbishop of Shanghai & San Francisco and St. Tikhon, Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus and Enlightener of America (whose Feast was commemorated that day). On the North, South, East, and West edges of the city, stops were made and prayers were lifted up during the spread of the harmful pandemic and for the healing of the sick and the protection of all who care for the suffering. During the procession around the city, the Akathist to St. John the Wonderworker was chanted continuously and live-streamed on the parish Facebook page.
