Fallen Firefighters Remembered in Passaic NJ

On Friday, May 9, 2014 Priest Stephen Kaznica, Rector of Sts. Peter and Paul Cathedral in Passaic NJ was invited by the city's Fire Chief Patrick Trentacost Sr. to give the invocation at the annual memorial service for their fallen brother and sister firefighters,  including those who perished in the line of duty serving and protecting the citizens of Passaic NJ.

The event was held at the Passaic Eastside Firehouse at the corner of Hope Ave & Jefferson St.  The day is significant as it was the 13th anniversary of the death of Passaic Firerighter Alberto Tirado,   who perished while searching for trapped victims inside a three story home on  nearby Market Street in 2001.  Commemorating Firefighter Tirado's memory is of special importance to Fr. Stephen since the fire emergency in which Firefighter Tirado perished is in close proximity to the Parish of Sts. Peter and Paul Cathedral's Hall.
