On Friday, August 1st, the Feast of the Uncovering of the Relics of St. Seraphim of Sarov, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and all Russia served the Divine Liturgy in the Church of St. George the Great Martyr at Poklonnaya Hill. This date commemorates the 100th Anniversary of Russia's entry into the First World War.
During the Divine Liturgy Patriarch Kirill led the Episcopal Consecration of Archimandrite John (Roshchin) as Bishop of Naro-Fominsk.
His Holiness was co-served by, Metropolitan Juvenaly of Krutisty and Kolomna; Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, Chairman of the Department of External Affairs of the Moscow Patriarchate; Archbishop Mark of Yegorievsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Finance & Economic Administration; Bishop Sergey of Solnechnogorsk; Administrative Secretary of the Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia, along with clergy and faithful of the Moscow Diocese.
During the Augmented Litany, His Holiness raised prayers for the Peace in Ukraine.
At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, Patriarch Kirill delivered the Archpastoral Staff to His Grace Bishop John, and subsequently blessed the faithful for the first time.
