Orthodox Education Day at St. Vladimir's Seminary

On Saturday October 4, at the invitation of the Primate of the Orthodox Church in America the Most Blessed Tikhon, Metropolitan of North America and Canada, the Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA served at the Divine Liturgy at St. Vladimir's Seminary in Crestwood, NY. The Divine Liturgy was centered on the Seminary's annual Orthodox Education Day. 

The Divine Liturgy was presided by the Most Blessed Tikhon, Metropolitan of North America and Canada. Metropolitan Tikhon was co-served by their Graces, John of Naro-Fominsk, Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA and Saba Administrator of the Georgian Patriarchal Parishes in the USA. Concelebrating with the hierarchs were Archpriest John Jillions, Chancellor of the OCA; Seminary Rector, Archpriest John Behr; Seminary Chancellor, Archpriest Chad Hatfield as well as clerics of the OCA, Moscow and Georgian Patriarchal Parishes. Praying during the Divine Liturgy was His Eminence Archbishop Melchisedek of Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania. 

The Divine Liturgy was adorned with Antiphonal Choirs under the direction of Dr. David Drillock, the seminary’s emeritus Professor of Liturgical Music, and Hierodeacon Herman (Majkrzak)current lecturer in Liturgical Music and director of Chapel Music. A piece of the relics of St. Innocent of Moscow were available for those gathered in the church to venerate. 

After the Divine Liturgy, a panel discussion surrounding the issue of "Do Books Still Matter? A Celebration of Orthodox Christian Publications", was held in the auditorium of the seminary. Nine publishers of Orthodox material in the United States were available to showcase recent publications. His Grace Bishop John, as a former member of the Publishing Council of the Russian Orthodox Church was able to discuss the various issues surrounding ecclesiastical publications around the world.
