Sunday of Orthodoxy in St. Nicholas Antiochian Cathedral

On the Sunday March 1, the First Sunday in Great Lent commemorating the Triumph of Orthodoxy; the head of the Antiochian Orthodox Archdiocese in North America, His Eminence Joseph, Metropolitan of New York and all North America, celebrated the Divine Liturgy in St. Nicholas Archdiocesan Cathedral in Brooklyn NY. His Eminence was co-served at the Divine Liturgy by, Bishop Michael of New York and New Jersey (OCA); Bishop John of Naro-Fominsk, Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA and Bishop Nicholas of Brooklyn, Vicar of the New York Diocese (Antiochian Archdiocese). 

The Divine Services began with the morning orthros or matins. After which the Divine Liturgy of St. Basil the Great was celebrated. 

The Divine Liturgy was adorned with prayers and singing in Arabic, English, Church Slavonic and Greek. 

At the end of the Divine Liturgy, the Office of the Triumph of Orthodoxy was served. At its completion, a traditional procession around the church with the Holy Icons as well as the triumphant proclamation of the Synodikon of Orthodoxy set forth by Seventh Ecumenical Council. 

His Eminence Metropolitan Joseph thanked his brother Archpastors for this pan-Orthodox celebration was wished them a spiritually uplifting Great Lent.

During the Lenten meal in the cathedral hall, the hierarchs had an opportunity to discuss different questions regarding future pan-Orthodox celebrations on the North American continent.
