On Tuesday June 16, the Executive Committee of the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of the United States of America met with His Holiness Patriarch Bartholomew at the Patriarchal Residence in the Phanar in Istanbul, Turkey.
The delegation from the United States included: Assembly Chairman, Archbishop Demetrios, head of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese in America; Assembly Vice-President, Bishop John of Naro-Fominsk, Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes of the Russian Orthodox Church in the USA; Bishop Saba of North America, head of the Georgian Diocese in the USA; Bishop Longin of Novo-Gracanica and Midwestern America, Serbian Patriarchate; Archbishop Nicolae, head of the Romanian Archdiocese in the USA; Metropolitan Joseph, head of the Bulgarian Diocese in the USA; the head of the Orthodox Church in America, His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon of all America and Canada; Assembly treasurer, Metropolitan Antony of Hierapolis, head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in the USA. Also taking part in the meeting was Metropolitan John of Pergamon.
The delegation was invited by His Holiness to discuss the various achievements of the assembly over the past five years as well as to construct additional goals to complete before the All-Orthodox Sobor in 2016.
