Bishop John Attends Official Reception in Honor of Antiochian Patriarch's Visit to US

On Tuesday, July 29, at the headquarters of the Antiochian Orthodox Archdiocese in North America; an official reception was held in honor of the visit of His Beatitude Patriarch John X of Antioch and all the East to the United States of America. 

The event brought together hierarchs and representatives of the Ecumenical and Antiochian Patriarchates, the Orthodox Church in America, the Roman Catholic Church, the Syriac Catholic Church and the Armenian Apostolic Church. From the Russian Orthodox Church, His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad and His Grace Bishop John of Naro-Fominsk attended the reception. Also attending the reception were diplomats from Syria, Lebanon, Cyprus and Georgia. 

The head of the Antiochian Orthodox Archdiocese in North America, His Eminence Metropolitan Joseph in his opening remarks noted the importance of the visit of the Patriarch of Antioch in the United States, particularly during the ongoing hostilities in the Middle East. His Beatitude then expounded on the hardships that has befallen his flock, and urged all those present to speak openly about the situation in the Middle East.

In his personal interaction with the Patriarch of Antioch, Bishop John conveyed his well-wishes from the head of the Russian Orthodox Church and assured His Beatitude of the Russian Church's continued efforts in assisting in bringing peace to the lands of the Middle East.
