On August 27-28, the clergy and faithful of St. Nicholas Patriarchal Cathedral in New York City, prayerfully commemorated the feast of the Dormition of the Mother of God. Divine Liturgy on the day of the feast were led by cathedral cleric, Archpriest Alexander Golubov, Abbot Arseny (Sokolov, representative of the Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia to the Patriarch of Antioch and all the East and clergy of the cathedral. After the reading of the Holy Gospel, Fr. Arseny delivered a sermon to the faithful. At the conclusion of the Liturgy, on behalf of the Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA, His Grace Bishop John of Naro-Fominsk, Fr. Arseny was presented with an icon of the heavenly protectors of St. Nicholas Cathedral.

Later in the day, the Burial-Rite of the Theotokos was served in the cathedral.
