On Saturday, November 18, the centennial anniversary of the election of St. Tikhon (Bellavin) as the Patriarch and Moscow and all Russia as well as the anniversary of the Restoration of the Patriarchate was prayerfully commemorated in Holy Trinity Church in Baltimore, MD. Divine Liturgy was led by parish rector Archpriest John Vass; Archpriest Gregory Mathewes-Green, rector of Holy Cross Antiochian Church in Linthicum Heights, MD; Priest Gregory Winsky, rector of St. Michael the Archangel Church in Philadelphia, PA; parish cleric Deacon Michael Bishop and Deacon Michael Pavuk, cleric of St. John the Baptist Cathedral in Mayfield, PA.
At the conclusion of the Liturgy, a moleben was served in honor of the anniversary of Patriarch Tikhon's election. Afterwards, a lecture was presented by Dr. Alexander Pavuk, Assistant Professor of History at Morgan State University who discussed the significance of the All Russia Council of 1917-18 and the Patriarchate of St. Tikhon. A video and slide show of historic photos on the Election of St. Tikhon were also shown during the luncheon.
