On Thursday, February 15, the feast of the Meeting of the Lord, the Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA celebrated Divine Liturgy in St. Nicholas Cathedral in New York City.
On the evening prior, His Grace Bishop Vikenty of Zlatoustovsk and Satkinsk led the festal All-Night Vigil co-served by cathedral clergy, while Bishop John prayed in the altar.
Before the start of the Divine Liturgy, Bishop John tonsured altar servers of Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Manchester, NH, Leonid Shirayev, Vasily Bolson and Dmitry Zhuravlyov, readers.
After the Great Entrance, Bishop John ordained Deacon Konstantin Ovsyannikov, cleric of Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Manchester, NH to the Holy Priesthood.
At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, the clergy performed a short moleben before the icon of the feast and blessed candles.
His Grace Bishop John then addressed the faithful with a sermon. He thanked Bishop Vikenty for his visit to the Patriarchal Parishes as well as his prayers. In honor of his visit, Bishop Vikenty presented an engraved paten with an icon of St. John Chrysostom, produced in His Grace's diocese.
