To the spouse, clergy, church council and parishioners of St. Michael the Archangel parish in Philadelphia, relatives and spiritual children of Archpriest Vincent Saverino
Dear Matushka, Esteemed Fathers, Brothers and Sisters,
Please accept my most sincere condolences on the repose of Father Vincent, news of which resonated with sadness in my heart.
I knew Fr. Vincent as a diligent and fervent pastor who had labored for more than thirty years as a member of the Bishop’s Council, Dean of the Atlantic States and Rector of the parish dedicated to Archangel Michael in the city of Philadelphia. Fulfilling various ecclesiastical obediences, Fr. Vincent zealously served God and His people. Even in advanced age and carrying the burden of physical illness, he never envisioned himself outside the Church and never ceased laboring for the good of the parish. Having a rich pastoral experience, Father was certainly a wise aide and mentor in the administration of the Patriarchal Parishes in the United States.
Not long ago, we were in this church celebrating the Paschal services, sharing with each other the joy in the hope of life eternal. Now the immortal soul of Fr. Vincent personally contemplates the eternal beauty of the Kingdom of the Risen Christ, the Giver of Life, whom he preached with love throughout his whole life.
Unfortunately, I cannot personally lead Fr. Vincent on his final journey, but I want to assure you of my fervent prayers for the repose of his soul. May our Lord who loves mankind grant His faithful servant the Kingdom of Heaven and will take him to the hosts of all, in the hope of the Resurrection and the life eternal with our departed Orthodox fathers and brothers.
Memory eternal to the newly-departed Archpriest Vincent!
Invoking on you God’s blessing, with love in Christ,
JOHN
Bishop of Naro-Fominsk
Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA
