Local Orthodox Parishes serve Lenten Vespers in Scranton

On March 24 the Second Sunday of the Great Fast, Saints Peter and Paul Church in Scranton, PA hosted a Mission (Passia) service with area clergy from the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA and the Eastern American Diocese of ROCOR. 

Serving were Archpriest Basil Micek (rector), Archpriest John Sorochka (rector of St. John the Baptist Cathedral, Mayfield PA), Archpriest John Kassatkin (rector emeritus of Elevation of the Holy Cross Church, Hackettstown, NJ), Archpriest David Hritcko (rector St. Basil’s Church, Simpson PA), Archpriest Michael Lepa (parish administrator of St. Nicholas Church, Wilkes Barre PA) Abbot German (Ciuba) (Rector of St. Stephen’s  Church, Old Forge PA), Deacon Nathaniel Sorochka (cleric of St. John the Baptist Cathedral, Mayfield PA) Deacon George Sharonoff (cleric of Christ the Savior Church, Sugar Notch PA) 

After the reading of the Gospel Archpriest David Hritcko gave a sermon on the topics of forgiveness and prayer.  After the service a light luncheon was held in the parish hall where fellowship continued.
