On Wednesday, September 25, a meeting was held between Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, interim Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA & Canada, and Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America & New York, at the residence of the ROCOR First Hierarch in New York City.
Bishop Matthew presented the First Hierarch, as a gift, the Chronicle of the Diveevo Monastery, published in English by the Diocese of Sourozh, as well as an original photograph of the 1981 Synod of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia from the Historic Images archive.
The archpastors discussed a number of issues relating to the interaction between the Eastern American Diocese and the Patriarchal Parishes.
Also in attendance at the meeting were Abbot Nicodemus (Balyasnikov; cleric of St. Nicholas Patriarchal Cathedral in New York City) and Bishop Matthew’s personal secretary, Subdeacon Nicholas Trubnikov.
