On November 24-25, celebrations were held in honor of the 117th anniversary of the Great Consecration of St. Nicholas Patriarchal Cathedral by St. Tikhon (Belavin), future Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia.
On November 24, at the end of the Divine Liturgy, the 3rd charity concert from the cycle of literary and music salons “Romanticism and its influence on Russian culture” was held in the parish hall, which was attended by over one hundred people. The music program included works by Beethoven, Schumann, Chopin, Debussy, Bortkevich, Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninov performed by the choir conductor of St. Nicholas Cathedral Alexander Chaplinsky, choristers: Nikita Stepanenko, Anna Mourovannyi, Ekaterina Afanasyeva, Inna Skrypnik and Taisiya Ryabtseva, as well as Anna and Dmitry Shelest. The concert was attended by guest performers Pavel Sulyandzig and Raina Wang. The author and host of the concert was Daria Halilova.
On November 25, Divine Liturgy was celebrated in the cathedral where builders, benefactors as well as those who served and prayed in St. Nicholas Cathedral were commemorated. After the Augmented Litany, a prayer of thanksgiving for all of God’s blessings to the clergy and parishioners of the cathedral was read.
At the conclusion of the service, Abbot Nicodemus (Balyasnikov) congratulated the clergy, laborers and parishioners of the cathedral. Fr. Nicodemus also congratulated cathedral clerics Archpriest Alexander Golubov, with his 37th anniversary of priestly ordination and Priest Rodion Shamazov, with his past namesday.
Interaction between the clergy and parishioners continued at a fraternal meal, after which the curator of the parish museum Emilia Vaschenko conducted a tour and told about the history of the cathedral.
