On November 26, St. Innocent of Irkutsk Church in Redford, MI celebrated their patronal feast. The joy of the feast began, however, over the prior weekend with a range of blessings received from God.
On Sunday morning, Priest Joshua Genig (parish rector) and Hierodeacon Seraphim (Balagtas; parish cleric) served the Lesser Blessing of Waters prior to the start of the Divine Liturgy for the afterfeast of the Entry of the Mother of God into the Temple (New Style). Following the festal Divine Liturgy, a procession was held with the icon and relics of St. Innocent of Irkutsk, after which the clergy served the Moleben to St. Innocent.
During Trapeza, a wonderful Lenten meal was offered by the Sisterhood of St. Elizabeth the New Martyr, the newly re-established sisterhood of the parish.
On Monday evening, Great Vespers and Litya were served, followed by the Divine Liturgy on Tuesday morning for the Feast by Priest Joshua.
A great number of the faithful prayed and received the mysteries over the course of these celebratory days and joy continues to abound in the parish family!
