On Wednesday, April 6, the eve of the feast of the Annunciation of the Most Holy Theotokos and the repose of St. Tikhon (Bellavin), Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia, clerics of St. Nicholas Patriarchal Cathedral in New York City performed an automobile cross-procession through the boroughs of New York. With the blessing of the interim Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA, Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, an icon of St. Tikhon containing a piece of his holy relics was brought in the procession.
The clergy and faithful of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA were called to pray and read the Akathist to the heavenly protector of America - the founder of St. Nicholas Cathedral in New York City, St. Tikhon.
Stops were made in all Five Boroughs – Manhattan, Brooklyn, Staten Island, Queens and the Bronx where petitions and prayers read for the cessation of the death-bearing pestilence as well as for the healing of those infirm.
The clergy also visited the St. John of Kronstadt House of Mercy under the auspices of the Patriarchal Parishes in Brooklyn, where a moleben was served in the chapel of the Icon of the Mother of God Inexhaustible Chalice.
The procession concluded at midnight at St. Nicholas Cathedral were a moleben to St. Tikhon was served.
