On Tuesday, November 26, Priest Joshua Genig (dean of the Central States) celebrated Divine Liturgy in St. John Chrysostom Church in Grand Rapids, MI on the occasion of their patronal feast. Fr. Joshua was co-served by parish rector, Priest James Anthony. Though a mid-week feast, the parish choir was full and many of the faithful rearranged their schedules to be present. The feeling in the temple was truly that of a Second Pascha.
Following the Divine Liturgy, Fr. Joshua offered a homily, imploring the faithful to pray for the suffering and persecuted Orthodox Christians in the Ukrainian, Russian, and Holy Lands, particularly on this Feast.
After the veneration of the holy cross, all the faithful gathered for a wonderful, celebratory luncheon prepared by the sisterhood. The faithful of St. John Chrysostom rejoice in their 108 years and ask God to bless them with many, many more!
