Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA and Canada serves Moleben to Saint John of Shanghai his Holy Relics

On December 21, 2024, with the blessing of Archbishop Kyrill of San Francisco & Western America, Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, Interim Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA and Canada, visited Joy of all who Sorrow Diocesan Cathedral in San Francisco.

The Bishop venerated the icons of the cathedral and served a moleben to Saint John of Shanghai before the shrine containing his relics in the northern altar of the cathedral.

Praying at the service were those accompanying the bishop on his trip: Abbot Nicodemus (Balyasnikov), Priest Mark Rashkov, the bishop's secretary Nikolai Trubnikov, as well as cathedral cleric Protodeacon Antony Koval, parishioners and pilgrims.

At the end of the service, Bishop Matthew, according to tradition, anointed the worshipers with oil from the eternal lamp blessed at the relics of St. John.
