On Saturday, October 18, 2025, the faithful of St. Innocent of Irktusk parish in Redford were blessed to receive the Mother of God in her Hawaiian Myrrh-Streaming Icon. This was the second time the Mother of God has visited the parish in her Iveron Icon, the last time in October of 2018.
Accompanying the Holy Icon were the guardian, Fr Nectarios Yangson, and Deacon Seraphim Andov, both from Holy Theotokos of Iveron Orthodox Church in Hawaii (ROCOR). The icon arrived for the Divine Liturgy for the Feast of the Wonderworkers of Russia and was greeted by clergy, servers, choir, flower girls, and nearly 300 of the faithful who came to receive the blessings of the Most Holy Theotokos.
While present in the temple, the love of the Mother of God was observed and felt by all. Many people received answers to their prayers and peace in their troubled souls. The clergy, also, were united in their love for the Mother of God as they served and prayed in the Holy Altar. In addition to parish Rector, Priest Joshua Genig, several priests and deacons from the surrounding area came to concelebrate, including: Fr. Mikhail Volzhanskii (Rector of Assumption Cathedral, Ferndale [ROCOR]), Fr. James Anthony (Rector of St. John Chrysostom, Grand Rapids), Fr. Basil Gross (Rector of St. Andrew the First Called, East Lansing), Deacons Michael Cook and Seraphim Kraker (St. John Chrysostom, Grand Rapids), and Deacon Andrew Shauver (St. Andrew the First Called, East Lansing) as well as a multitude of subdeacons and altar servers.
Praying the altar were the Archimandrite Pachomius (Belkoff) and Monk Nicholas (St. Sabbas Russian Orthodox Monastery, Harper Woods [ROCOR]).
Following the Divine Liturgy, the faithful were given ample time to venerate the Holy Icon and be anointed with myrrh. Wonderful refreshments were prepared for all by the faithful of St. Innocent parish! As one priest observed, the joy and solemnity of the visit of the Mother of God felt like Pascha, Pentecost, and Dormition all in one!
