His Eminence, Timothy Cardinal Dolan, Roman Catholic Archbishop of New York, welcomed clergy and hierarchs from Orthodox Churches throughout New York City to his annual St. Andrew's Feast Day luncheon. The gathering, held in observance of the Catholic Feast of St. Andrew, brought together representatives from multiple Orthodox traditions in a spirit of ecumenical fellowship.
The event drew attendees from the Orthodox Church in America (OCA), Antiochian Orthodox Church, Greek Orthodox Church, Serbian Orthodox Church, Armenian Church of America, and Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church. Representing the Patriarchal Parishes, with the blessing of Bishop Mathew. was Hieromonk John (Schieffler). The luncheon also included Bishops and clergy from the Catholic Archdiocese of New York, as well as visiting clergy from Mexico.
Beyond fostering fellowship and strengthening ecumenical relationships, participants engaged in substantive dialogue on several timely topics. Discussions centered on Pope Leo XIV's recent apostolic journey to Turkey, the encouraging resurgence of church attendance across many Christian denominations, and shared pastoral concerns facing Christian communities in the New York metropolitan area.
Following the meal, Cardinal Dolan guided attendees through St. Patrick's Cathedral, showcasing recent artistic enhancements, devotional additions, and the ongoing restoration efforts that preserve the historic landmark's sacred character and architectural heritage.
The annual gathering continues to serve as an important forum for interfaith dialogue and cooperation among Catholic and Orthodox Christian leaders in one of the nation's most diverse metropolitan regions.
