Bishop Matthew serves Panihida in Orthodox Cemetery in Scranton

On May 24, 2026—on the eve of Memorial Day—following the Divine Liturgy in Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Scranton, PA, Interim Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA and Canada, Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, visited the parish cemetery.

There, he celebrated a memorial litia at the resting place of the ever-memorable Archpriest Basil Micek and his wife, Matushka Pamela-Ann. His Grace prayerfully commemorated all the departed parishioners of the Saints Peter and Paul parish who are interred in this holy ground.

Present in prayer during the service were Archpriest Basil’s sons and family members, the church’s rector—Priest Oleg Cruz—and parishioners, as well as the clergy accompanying the Bishop on his visit.
